Hard credit search - financial associate

Options
Hi all,
I just wanted to check if this is correct.
I had a mortgage with an ex partner 17 years ago, we split 1 year after however due to the 2009 market crash the house wasn’t resolved for many years. In the end I had to get a court order to force sale in 2024.
The issue is he wanted to buy me out which I was ok with however he couldn’t get a mortgage.
We are now applying for a mortgage as I’m finally mortgage free.
It transpires I have hard searches from companies when my ex partner was applying for mortgages. I understood the soft searches as a linked associate but there’s actual hard searches? Is this correct as I personally didn’t apply for credit or consent?
Thanks

A  High Street bank compensated me £100.00 for doing a hard search on me when whilst my partner has an account with them and they wanted to offer them an unwanted overdraft It was nothing to do with me.
In short you never had any relationship with the mortgage companies and never agreed to them searching you and so they have no business doing so.
I suggest you make a formal complaint
