Hello,

So confused with the offerings from EDF.

Background
Presently on their variable tariff and switched over y’day to EDF FIXED 1YR SEPT2025 with a 14 day cooling off. I reside in a small studio flat, which is extremely cold during the winter months
and cool during the hot weather. I suffer with chronic pain from a failed back op, therefore heating vvip.

Questions
- Any feedback appreciated please from EDF customers who opted for this particular tariff?
- Should they refund the difference in direct debits? Call handler in South Africa stated no but DD not coming out of my account until 2 Sept 2024.

Thanks in advance for your feedback and assistance.

I actually went for the 2 year version (I had been on a EDF fix for 3 years)  -  a bit of a gamble

I don't understand your DD refund question. Any credit you have at the moment will roll over and is included in the assessment of the DD for the next 12 months

    What is your heating ?

  • Your direct debit is not your bill, unless you are paying full monthly variable DD.

In either case, the difference in predicted DD payments isn't a cause for refunds.
  • Thank you for your replies. As a newbie was unsure how to respond to your individual posts so have placed my replies together…apologies.

@Robin9. I did look at the 2 year deal but didn’t feel brave enough to opt in. I was also on the variable tariff for 3 years for EDF dual energy.

Yes, my credit has rolled over, even though the new direct debit amount will not be taken until Oct 2024 but new rates were applied this morning when I checked the smart meter. The smart meter differs to what the call handler quoted me on y’day and the app rates different again.

Do you think it takes a few days for smart meter and app to catch up pls?

@Bar@BarelySentientAI, thank you, my thinking y’day was confused with various sites and different tariffs and now that you mention it I understand why a refund will not be issued for my Sept DD, so thanks once again.

Hopefully, when I see the app and smart meter applying the exact rates I will feel more comfortable.

There can be delays with the IHD to catch up. Is the difference VAT ?

  • Hi @Robin9, thank you I was thinking that but all rates have vat added. Fingers crossed it is as you said with the IHD waiting to catch up ….  (I checked it @ 05.30). I will take screenshots tomorrow to compare and post on here if I’m allowed.
  • Hi @Robin9,

Hope you are well. You were right the IHD was on catch up!

Just to let you know the smart meter and app and to what the EDF stated - all rates match up now. Thank you so much for your assistance.

I also took meter readings for electric and gas last night, shall I add to EDF app ? or just leave as is pls?

Appreciate your help once again !🙏

Just keep your own records -  a simple spreadsheet will be fine.    As my signature  - read those bills when they come
