Do you need to warm an engine up for a MOT?

Took mine in yesterday for its mot.
Got a warning that my insurance tracker had been unplugged.
So went to ask why, the reason was that they scan the car to see the oil temp for the emmissions check.
First time its ever been done in 8 years of owning the car.

    OBD port black box?

Yes, the tester can use the OBD to determine the engine temp for the emissions.

In addition, it'd be a very poor service that didn't use the OBD port to check for fault codes.
