Old debt effect on Credit File

I have an old debt from Sky TV that I had forgotten about. It isn't showing on my Credit File, however I have received an email from a Debt Collection Agency called CRS requesting payment.
I am happy to pay as it's only £66, however I am worried it will then make an appearance on my Credit File and be detrimental. I am currently in the early stages of applying for a mortgage and don't want to undo the work I've done to get my Credit File into a good condition.
I kinda have 2 options; pay or ignore. But which will more adversely impact my Credit File.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Is it showing on your credit file at the moment?
My guess is that it isn't
Paying it or not paying it should make no difference
General rule is to ignore emails and texts and only respond to letters1 -

Don`t ever respond to emails from debt collectors, a lot of them are scams.
Only ever respond to a letter.
Whatever you choose to do, this debt will not show up on your credit file ever again, no matter what you do.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
