Roller door key-switch - recommendation to upgrade to low voltage.

Hi.
They've just had a metal roller door serviced at the yoof club I help out at. All fine, but instead of the invoice, they sent a 'recommendation' for the key-operated up/down control to be changed to a low voltage DC version with control box - at nearly £400.
The current one switches mains voltage, and they have "identified a potential risk" because of this. "This increases your risk as if there was a fault/lose wire in the keyswitch you could
potentially receive an electric shock the door has RCD protection at the
distribution board." (all sics included)
They acknowledge it's RCD protected.
I was asked for my opinion, which was that the 'risk' was no greater than that of my all-metal toggle kitchen light switch.
Thoughts?
Ta.

I concur with your thoughts. Did they open the switch box to check the condition of the wires and connections and that they were safe/tight and suitably insulated?
Have you confirmed that the circuit is RCD (or RCBO) protected? and that they did not mean to state "no RCD protection" exists?

But, very good point - their quote is full of typos, so I will confirm what they meant and that the store room is RCD protected. If it isn't, I'll recommend the money is spent on that instead.0 -
The door has its own Wylex NHXSBS1B16 RCBO. Cool.

If nobody has already done it, it's a good idea to check that the box is actually earthed. I would expect it to be.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
