Cheap global index funds

What does everyone think of the idea of using cheap global index trackers for most of your investments, as suggested by the Donegans of the Rebel Finance School - ie Vanguard Developed World ex UK and FTSE Global All Cap?

Even if they don't sell users' data, there seem to be nothing there to stop them selling the entire business to a third party should they choose. There are also plenty of guides to investing out there that provide free investment without giving out personal information.

I'm always quite happy to give out personal information to get access to something, it is just always a personality I've created in my head, with a real, but disposable email address.
