Nearing another weekend and blessed with another DIY issue.!
This time I noticed unusual leak from loft near shower head and after inspection noticed plastic connector leaked because shower body was moving down a bit put pressure on pipe to loose. luckly it didn't completely disconnect and ended up in a flood!
Now trying readjust and connect back, but some how a teeth like metal piece I am unable to move up close to joint to connect them back. Looking at the teeth it probably only move down. how and what tool I can use to move it closer to joint..?
Any help on this please. How do I fix this..?
If still leaks what connector I should order..? Type/name of this..?

1. You can't move those grab rings in the wrong direction and rely on them working properly. .
2. You need to replace it. There are two options:
2.1 Cut the grab ring off with something like side cutters and replace with a PolyPlumb one. E.g. BES Item No. 21317
2.2 Replace the whole elbow with another one, I'd use JG Speedfit. You'd have to remove the other side of the existing elbow and also cut off that side's grab ring.

Thanks very much.
This is in the corner of loft with limited access. Very difficult to stay there long and limited tools can be used. Please help to name this item (faulty joint type )so that I can understand what each piece will do..? out of two options which is the 'easiest' one with minimum replacement. Thanks.0 -
I assume it's a 15mm mains feed pipe.
This would do if you can get the other connector off.

As said above, these grab-rings are designed to not move backwards, for very good reason - it's what holds the pipe inside the fitting.
You are best to remove and replace that whole elbow, with another similarly-sized push-fit.
The old grab ring can be removed if you wish by either snipping it using good wire-cutters, or just by crushing it against the pipe using adjustable pliers - once the 'teeth' are flattened a bit, the ring will slide up the pipe.
Worst case, if access is awkward, you can simply leave the ring and end caps in place, pushed up the pipe a bit to allow a new elbow in place!
A word of warning about the Speedfit elbow shown above; that end collar will release the pipe if it's pushed in, so it'll need a securing clip pushed on there to prevent this. Plenty cases of pipes coming out when the fitting is pulled against a hole or joist that presses that ring in, including one I fitted in my brother's house a couple of decades ago...1 -
Thank you very much, everyone. For now, I've done a temporary fix using the same parts and a metal piece to prevent the shower from slipping down (True DIY!!). Let's see how it holds up. Thanks again for your quick responses

If there is room to swing a spanner, I'd go for a compression fitting. Use a thin smear of Plumbers Mait or similar, and once done up, it shouldn't leak, ever.Fittings like SpeedFit depend on the pipe being free of damage to get a good seal. SpeedFit has a locking collar that should prevent it from accidentally coming apart. If you can't get a spanner in there to tighten up a compression fitting, then it is the next best thing. Do check the ends of the pipes to make sure there are no sharp edges that can damage the rubber seals inside a push fit fitting. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -

Thanks again for your quick responsesNice job :-)Ah, I see that the existing fitting also has that press-in release collar, so that explains how it came apart. How did you manage to move the grab ring back up the pipe?Apart from some concern about how well that moved grab-ring is now gripping, it should be ok. That is a low-pressure pipe, isn't it - ie it's shower mixer's outlet flow to the shower head, so not at all under any significant pressure?1

Moving grab ring was difficult but i used a screw driver to push each teeth up one by one. It might have lost its grip a bit but temporarily all should work.1
