Faulty airbed from the range

Hi all, bought an airbed while on a holiday in Weymouth. A couple of weeks ago. It goes down quite a bit every night and my back feels wet/cold. I'm disabled and this leaves in me in a lot of pain. After doing some research I've found out that if the materials used are cheaper they fail to retain heat and will go down. I am now back in Norwich and would like to know if I can take this back for a refund firstly and if I can return to my local store as Weymouth is a couple of hundred miles away nearly. I should have the receipt somewhere. Thanks for any help. It's obviously out of their 14 day window but I would class this as faulty. Thanks again.

I’m not sure you’ve actually said how long you got ago you bought it because you mention a couple of weeks ago, but then say it’s obviously outside of the 14 day returns window?

The 14 days is for change of mind, if it’s faulty, you have longer. And if you bought it in store, you should be able to return it to any store with the receipt but check with their customer care team first because they do say they weren’t accept larger items in store and it depends what they define as a larger item.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

airbeds can leave you feeling a bit cold - even the much better ones, I always use a thin duvet on the airbed as that makes it warmer.

yes should be able to go back to any Range store if it is leaking

Depends whether it's leaking or just due to temperature changes.

What you've heard "if the materials used are cheaper they fail to retain heat and will go down" isn't quite true. For all airbeds, irrespective of material, if you blow them up by mouth then you're putting warm air in. Later on when that air has cooled it takes up less volume and therefore the airbed looks to have gone down. But once it's been inflated to the right amount and topped up, it should be OK.

Many of the camping airbeds are pretty cheap and they do have a habit of leaking a bit - what type of airbed is it? You need to work out if it's a genuine leak or just temperature. The easiest way would be to leave it a few days and see if it continues to deflate.
  • Thank you all for your comments, I bought it within August not sure on date but close to the beginning, still looking for the receipt. I haven't got the box as the first few times it seemed fine and besides I can never get things back in them. There are no punctures, I think it's a brand called Avani. It was 79.99. just woke up on it now and I'm sunk half way in it as it's a high rise one with it's own plug and motor built in. So I'd say that's a considerable amount of air loss.

I have a similar higher off the floor airbed, can't recall the make, not from The Range either.
It suffers exactly the same issue. There's a built in pump and a three position switch which operates both the pump and a valve of some sort.
It's been fine for a few times used, but now slowly deflates overnight. Not to the same extent as described.
I suspect that valve starts to leak after a few inflations and deflations.
