Second hard car issues

Good morning.
I bought a second hand car last weekend at a cost of £7000.
Everything seemed OK until we got home, then noticed 2 issues - there are exhause fumes in the cabin when the car is stationary and the AirCon didn't work.
I have taken the car to my local garage for an AirCon re-gas and was told the compressor is shot. This is £££!!!
Regarding the other issue, I'm told it can be any number of things, and will require a proper daignostic, at a cost.
What would be the best course of action to take here? I have a basic, 3 month, warranty with the car but I think these issues should be sorted by the dealer, as were in place prior to the sale.
I am thinking of just asking them to take the car back and resolve the issues.
Any advice please?
Thanks

first of all give them a chance to right the wrongs. Take it back and tell them you want fixed, or your money back. in the eyes of the law you are responsible for what you sell. so hopefully they are a reputable business and will respect that law. failing that you can seek advice from cab. or contact office of fair trading. they are on google. if you have to get a solicitor involved, be pre paired to fork out £££ with the aim of claiming it back later.2

You notify the dealer you bought it from and give them the opportunity to fix the issues.
If they don't fix it then you look at your right to reject.
You don't get local garages involved, that just complicates things.2 -
It depens on whether you like the car and want to keep it. If you do, follow the advice above, if not, return it for a full refund now citing the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I would be inclined to return it now citing the fumes in the cabin as the reason, because a) this is dangerous and b) it's a sufficiently serious fault on its own for the car to be regarded as not of satisfactory quality for it's age.
The failure of the a/c condensor is somewhat debatable as to whether it is an acceptable fault for the age of the car.The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.2 -
Update: just been to local exhaust place and the whole exhaust system is rotten. It's leaking at the flexi pipe into the cabin. He's no idea how it got through MOT 2 weeks ago. He thinks the DPF needs to be replaced as well, as won't get the rotten exhaust parted from it.
Am I still within rights to reject, based on these faults?0 -

No mention of car age or mileage, so no one can judge if the above would be the norm for the car.Life in the slow lane1 -
A leaking exhaust is dangerous and unroadworthy. That sounds like a good reason to reject to me.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -

As above, call the garage, tell them the problems and either ask them to fix them or say you want to reject the car.
See what they say and then go from there.1
