NatWest Balance Transfer Card - CHECK STATEMENTS

I use the card both for expenditure and a zero interest balance transfer but always pay off all expenditure by the due date so knew immediately that an interest charge on my most recent statement was wrong. A fairly painless phone call resolved the issue and the advisor said she would report the issue internally, but I'd strongly advise a very careful check of your own statements if you have a similar card.

What are the exact T&Cs for the card you've got?  For the majority of BT cards it's advised not to use them for spending, for exactly the reason you describe - unless you repay the full balance, you'll be charged interest.
Some cards will allow you to spend, repay the purchases and still retain the original BT offer, but these are in the minority.
Additionally, certain purchases are treated as cash - a common one being buying foreign currency.  These will always incur interest (and usually a cash advance fee as well).
This is why it's so important to read and understand the T&Cs that relate to the particular card you've got.
That aside, it's always a good idea to check your statements anyway, irrespective of what card you've got.  Mistakes can and do happen - and in the case of a genuine mistake, I've always found most card issuers to be very helpful.

Do you pay over your spending for that month?
As you need to factor in a % towards the balance transfer with even if at 0% still has a minimum payment to be factored in.

FACT is you should always be checking statements each month, even if you do not spend on the card & has a zero balance...

NatWest will charge interest on purchases if you've got a 0% balance transfer on the same card.
What you need to do, is stop spending on it, and if the minimum payment doesn't cover what you've spent, pay the excess. You will need to do this for two months to stop paying interest
