Double glazing guarantees - workmanship and materials

I have DG installed five years ago by now-retired glazing installer - he was a helpful guy and turned up to fix a leak when requested .
One pane has just exploded. My guarantee "certificate", offering 10 years replacement of faulty materials, was provided by the tradesman, so I'm not expecting any change out of him.
My question is, are the glazing units guaranteed by the supplier? Planitherm in this case. No clues on the website at all - they don't even mention the G-word!

I think asking Planitherm is the only way you are going to get a definitive answer. You would normally expect them to last more than 5 years.0

But it would need to be a defect in workmanship or materials to be strictly covered by a guarantee of those points. That isn't always the case, particularly after several years.0

They will probably try to get out of it by saying the glass has/might have been struck/hit at some time so not their problem.1

And toughened glass does go with a bang - it's intended to do that so it shatters into small pieces for safety. The most likely reason it will have gone is an impact, but the impact could have been some time (a few hours max) before it went. All UK toughened glass is made to the highest standard, glass from every single batch is tested to get the safety standard - which it has to pass, then smashed to test the safety element. It is so improbable that a fault or flaw could exist for 5 years then cause it to bang. Could be a bird flew into it - a sharp beak in a corner might well be enough.

Normally... you would have a contract with the DG installer (because that is who you instructed and paid), but you'd have no contract with Planitherm.
So Planitherm have no duty to do anything for you.
The exception would be if the DG installer supplied you with Planitherm units, and also supplied you with a manufacturer's guarantee provided by Planitherm.
You would need to look through the paperwork you received from the DG installer, to see if a manufacturer's warranty was included.
