Not At Fault Car Accident Issues

Ok that makes more sense.I’d guess they will take the car back off you in the near future- so prepare for that.if there’s a chance it might not be repairable start looking at valuations to get an idea to discuss settling quickly.
In terms of the damage to your car - it should be passed to your own insurers to deal with through your policy
and uninsured losses - excess, injury etc - may be claimable from the MIb
if it turns out the other driver was insured to drive then they will proceed as expected with claiming from the other insurance1 -

Claim still unsettled and have been informed by the claim company that in all likelyhood the other drivers insurance is cloned / fraudulent!
Really worried where we go from here as I have had a hire car provided by the claim company for nearly 3 months and if the third party wont pay out for the claim who is going to pay the cost for the hire vehicle??
Initially i have been told once investigations completed and if the driver at faults insurer wont pay out then I will have to go back through my own insurers.
What a nightmare this has turned out to be!
Ultimately this is the risk/reward and "service" they offer... prices are inflated compared to what an insurer would be paying for a hire car themselves but they provide vehicles to non-fault drivers before all the investigations are done and write off losses when investigations turn against them.1 -

The Motor Insurer's Bureau fills a lot of roles, they maintain the MID which is used by the police, DVLA etc to check if a vehicle is insured or not, they liaise with their opposite number in other countries if you have an accident with a foreign vehicle, they also maintain the CUE and NCD database.
In addition to those practical items they also run the Untraced Driver and Uninsured Driver Agreements. The schemes are fairly similar but there are differences but ultimately it allows those that have sustained significant uninsured losses to be compensated. If you are insured then the MIB dont deal with your insured losses.
Most people get to learn about the MIB when they've been involved in a serious accident and the third party fled the scene or turns out was uninsured as their insurers will direct them for any injury claim or will liaise with them to validate the no insurance position etc.
It's funded by a levy paid by anyone who wants to be a UK Motor insurer, so in reallity paid for by drivers. You cannot sell motor insurance into the UK without the MIB, as a consequence they have a high level of leverage if you're being bad at updating the MID etc. In certain cases they can instruct an insurer to deal with a claim despite1 -
