easyJet car hire and flight compensation.

HI hope somebody can help?! We had our flight with easyJet cancelled in June from Gatwick to Majorca. We also had car hire booked with easyJet to pick up on arrival. We were unable to contact the hire company to tell them we were cancelled and flying out the next day so we lost our car hire as we were a 'no-show'.
We have tried to get the car hire refunded but they are refusing blaming us for not turning up as agreed. I have tried several times to explain that easyJet cancelled our original flight so it's their fault but it is like banging your head against the same old wall.
They have offered a voucher but we would like our money back.

I'm afraid as you did not contact the company prior to the date, means they lost the chance on that booking. So if they are offering a voucher take it. As they do not have to offer anything.

Fact EasyJet cancelled makes no difference.

Holiday insurance?  Might that cover it?

As above, I suspect you booked "through", rather than with Easyjet, so the flight and car hire aren't linked.
