Porting mobile phone number - really basic questions

DW is with O2 PAYG, but I have just got her a Lebara SIM.
O2 issued a PAC code, and I gave that to Lebara and requested a 'Port In'. That will take place on 30 August.
What should DW do in the meantime, so that she still gets calls and texts on the old number? I assume that I should put the O2 SIM back in her phone? She would still be able to make calls, as she still has some O2 credit.
Lebara say they will port the number on 30 August, but they don't say what time. So, how do we know when to put the Lebara SIM back in the phone?

No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

As you assume, put the O2 SIM back in the phone. At some point on 30/08 this SIM will lose service, swap the new SIM in at this point.
The new service will start at some point after this, usually an hour or so but can sometimes take until the next day. Unfortunately you've chosen to port on a Friday, if something goes wrong then it will be Monday before anything further can be done (porting only happens on working days).2 -
I would simply put both SIM cards in my phone. The last few phones I've had have dual-SIM capability0

It's shame to give up O2 Classic PAYG because you can't go back and it's very cheap for light users - you can get away with as little as £6.67 as year.1
