Virgin Money credit card, credit limit

Sorry if this is a silly question! Earlier today applied for the above card and pretty much straight away received an email saying great news, your application has been approved and then at the end of the email has a picture of a card with my name and a credit limit of £8,200. This is a lot more than I thought it would be. I then received an email saying congratulations application has been approved and I’ll receive an email in 2-3 days with how to set up app, when card will come and what the credit limit will be. 

Does this mean the £8,200 may not be my limit? I know I’ll find out soon but keen to know asap

Are you sure the picture showed £8200 and not £1200?  I only ask because £1200 is the "illustrative" limit that all lenders use in their marketing materials, to allow consumers to compare like with like when looking at different cards.

That aside, if it were me I'd be waiting for the confirmation email.

Remember that credit limits are decided on an individual basis, taking into account a whole host of different factors.  £8200 is certainly not a bad limit (if it indeed turns out to be what they've approved you for), but it's not unusual by any means.

And most importantly of all, do remember that - irrespective of the limit you're given - you must never use the card to spend more than you can afford to repay in full every month

I recently applied with virgin was given limit upon acceptance of £6000 and that's what was on the letter that accompanied the card when it arrived, so i would hazard a guess your limit will be 8200

as above the £1200 is a representative example that has to be given i believe this is linked to FCA regulations
