Is now a good time to fix?

I have received a few emails from Uswitch over the last few days encouraging me to switch to Ovo by 23:59 tonight.  I have done a Uswitch search and the best deal (not Ovo) will save me £50 per year.  I have kept an eye on USwitch over the last few years and this is the first time they have provided a "better" deal.  I am debating with myself whether now is a good time to fix?

It might well be, although a better time would have been about a month ago when several suppliers were offering deals at the same price as the present price cap. It is still possible to get deals which are cheaper than the October price cap, and if prices stay at that level or rise further, a fix taken out now will be a good deal. The risk is that prices will fall again. At present it looks quite likely that the January price cap will be at the same sort of level as October or perhaps a bit higher, but that could change. It is all down to your own best guess as to what will happen over the whole life of the fix you are contemplating, and your attitude to risk.

Bear in mind that comparison sites sometimes don't show all the deals that are available, only the ones where they get paid.

They do if correct box is ticked within filter option.
