  • Hi All

I just want to say thank you for your advice, you're all stars!

I am going to draft a complaint tonight after work and I shall post it here before sending. I think that will help people in the future see what I did to help them if they read this thread.

    Thanks

  • Hi, what do you all think?

    "
Dear Jo Hiney MD Smart Parking UK

I am writing to make a complaint on the intimidatory tactics used by the company you are UK managing director for.

I was astounded to find a letter from a debtrecoveryplus dated … about an alleged parking offense on… where £170 is being asked for an unpaid parking charge.

This was the first correspondence I have received on the matter. I find this odd and somewhat concerning that I have received no such correspondence from yourselves.

I have not moved address in over 2 years and I have not changed my car in that time so there is no excuse that letters were sent to a different address, furthermore DebtRecoveryPlus were able to send a letter to my address without any issues.

Looking at reviews online it seems I am not the only victim of your malicious practices. It seems this is common practice for Smart Parking to not bother with correspondence and get debt collectors to do their dirty work.

I shave already sent an email to my MP, Kim Johnson, about your unethical practices.

I will be complaining to the British Parking Association and requesting they remove you from their members list.

Are you proud of the standards of practice the company you are in charge for?

    Too strong maybe?

    Thanks

    This first paragraph is ungrammatical:
I am writing to make a complaint on the intimidatory tactics used by the company you are UK managing director for.
Never end sentences with 'for' or 'of' etc.

No such word as 'offense' in this Country. And a parking charge is just an invoice for a parking event, not an offence anyway.

There's no such firm as 'debtrecoveryplus'.

The end needs a way forward and deadline. What do you want them to do and by when?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Typo?  -  "I shave already sent an email to my MP....."
  • Hi I've just found this thread and I am wondering where you are up to now. I have exactly the same issue with Smart and DRP, the first I knew about it was 2 months after the alleged overstay with my first letter from DRPI have followed all the advice about not saying who the driver is etc. I did send a template letter (from a thread) and I am now on letter number three from DRP.
I have not heard from Smart Parking once, so had no chance to appeal and no chance to go through POPLA because it was too late.
I have contacted my MP but feel so cross and frustrated
    Please advise

The OP has not been back here since September 24 you are unlikely to get a response, you would be better starting your own thread, outlining your individual incident details.
Don't worry about DRP they are of no significance what so ever, and the appeal system is a waste of space.
