Thanks SC, he just called me and said it didn't go well....he had to do a presentation that said in the invite it was to be 10 minutes, he came in at 9 minutes and one of the panel said "oh that went a bit long didn't it" which threw him off his game. Add in that they only asked him 3 questions and said he only had 15 minutes left to answer the last one and he just felt very flustered. Feel very annoyed on his behalf because the guy who kept making the "time" comments isn't even going to be working with whoever gets the role - just hoping that his current manager who was the other person on the panel takes the guy to task because you do not make comments like that in an interview 😡 Or maybe it's just me and my public sector training that tries to make interviews a supportive and encouraging environment? I mean I've sat in on some particularly bad interviews but I've only once asked someone if they thought we should terminate the interview when it became very very obvious that they had absolutely no idea how to answer the questions we had about the role.
Anywho, he's off to drown his sorrows with his dad to celebrate his birthday while I'm in the office today. Hoping my interview next week isn't as horrific - I don't hold out much hope with the head of department we have at the moment!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20174 -

Well in a complete surprise to no one, we both got our promotions 🥳🥳🥳🥳😂😂😂
Mine was slightly more straightforward as it was just a case of the head of department agreeing with my boss that I'm the best candidate for the role - however there is a little bit of confusion as she appears to be under the impression that I'm stopping all my current projects to focus on new one but my new JD still includes the ongoing projects so that's something for my boss and her to argue out.
DH was so convinced he hadn't got it, that when all the candidates had calls booked in with the recruiting manager, he didn't realise that he was the first one in the queue and what that might mean. Could hear his disbelief at the good news from the kitchen 😂
So it means we're both earning a little bit more which I'm using towards OP's and he's using to save for house projects. Speaking of house projects, we've had the hallway and landing re-plastered over the last couple of weeks and now just need to save up for the horrendous amounts of paint it's going to take.
On the health front, my dad had his surgery cancelled literally hours before so we're now waiting on a new date for that. And most of my blood test results came back normal but they forgot to order the important ones like general hormone levels and rheumatoid factor. They think I might have some auto-immune which could be triggering the early-menopause stuff so also need to have an ultrasound to see what else is going on and if it does look like I'm in "ovarian failure" as the very nice doctor told me 😆 I also need to spend some time reading the e-book you sent @LadyWithAPlan, think its definitely going to come in handy with all the things that are going on with me right now.
Bank holiday weekend plans include waiting for a Virgin Media engineer to come and fix our broadband tomorrow, putting together a new shelving unit and in turn clearing some more stuff out of the spare room and an afternoon with friends on Sunday at an escape room followed by the pub.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20179 -

Congratulations on the promotions 🥳!
So frustrating about your Dad's surgery, I can't imagine what it must be like to be totally geared up for it and then it not happen. Hopefully he gets a new date soon xMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Well done on the dble promotions! Sounds like you have a lot on and sorry re your health issues.
I have been focusing successfully on getting the visceral fat down and feel so much better its fairly painless. Worse part is socialising on reduced intake ..DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Thank you all for the congrats - can't believe it's been a month since I last updated. I hope to keep on top of things and try to update on a more regular basis.
Today was pay day so I got a little bit extra but have also now heard that I should be getting a slightly bigger pay rise in my August pay because of the national pay award 👍 Not too sure what it's going to look like but hey every little bit and all that. Payday shuffle will happen tomorrow and I am determined to have as many NSD's as possible from now on because once again, I keep buying stuff I don't need 🤦♀️.
We've paid off our holiday for later in the year and now trying to save all the spending money for it. I've also just got back from a hen in Europe which was lovely to be away with friends and made me more excited for our holiday. Is it sad that I have a list in my notes app of outfits and things I want to take with me, and we aren't going for like 3 months?!? I can't help it, I'm just excited.
On the house front I can't remember if I said that we had our hallway and landing plastered. We now need to replace the dado rail with some new stuff and buy the paint we want. Think that might be something for after our holiday though as we need to wait for the plumber to fix / replace the radiator in the hallway first. The house is a bit of a mess at the moment because of well...life. So I'm planning on trying to get things under control this weekend. We've been decluttering a whole bunch of stuff and I have a huge pile of things to list on Vinted. Will let you know how that goes 🤣.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20177
