If only someone would develop a idea of small trial pots, to get round fickle females (no offense to any reading this) 😶🌫️
I've found them to be unhelpful. A patch of wall isn't representative of an entire wall or room in that colour.
Then you would not be returning the tin of paint would you?
How is the OP's Mrs judging the colour then?
Sounds like it's from the colour on the lid/label.
I tried buying three tester pots for a feature wall a few years ago, painted some patches of each on the wall but it didn't help at all. Now I just look at the colour charts or the colour on the tin and go ahead. It's not always been exactly as I imagined it once the wall or room is painted, but I've never re-painted.
What you shouldn't do is buy the colour she wants (hopefully for final time) and return the old can with that receipt.
Even though absolutely nobody would ever try try this, I’d be surprised if it worked anyway, as each colour of paint will no doubt have the colour printed on the receipt and it would get spoofed that what was being returned wasn’t the same as what was on the receipt.
OP kept the same receipt when first swapped. What's not clear is did they refuse the second swap because out of time, or it didn't match the receipt.
It was time
Time doesn't usually reset, on an exchange, so a new invoice would be irrelevant.
