ebay buyer, I'm going to collect the item, can I remove the postage fee?

Hi I've won an auction and collection is an option. When I go to checkout, there doesn't seem to be any option to remove the postage. I know this can be done as I've had it happen to me when I'm selling items, but I can't find any option to remove the postage. The seller also can't find how to do it using the app, I've asked them to re-invoice but they dont know how to do that either.

why not pay on collection ?0

Unfortunately the transaction is now locked. No reason why the seller cannot give you cash less the fees deducted when you collect the item.0

Plus it makes no sense to go through the faff of withdrawing cash, especially as it's not an even number so I'd be clinking around with change in my pocket like cee-lo green.0 -

Maybe they need to try doing it through a browser rather than the app, preferably desktop if they can.1

I don't think the buyer can change the postage options. The seller needs to send you an invoice with free collection as an option. You can then choose which option you want before you pay.1

There is now difficulty in removing postage from an invoice, it's another 'improvement' that has hit some accounts. It should still be possible though if collection for free was shown in the original postage options as there would then be an option for buyer to either use the drop down menu to opt from the originally shown postage to another option included on the account. Likewise a seller can invoice using the drop down options. The difficulty arises though when a collection in person for free was not actually shown as an official option in the postage when item was listed.
If the option is not there then the only way to do it is to pay in full and have the seller refund, via the original payment the postage element. This doesn't result in any fees on either side. This is how I deal with refunding postage where a buyer has bought and paid for 2 lots both with postage but I can send together.
The refund button is on the drop down menu options.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for all the replies - really helpful.
The seller did manage to change the postage to £0 by using the desktop website and going to 'send payment details' to me. The postage fee actually remained the same in my basket (despite frequently refreshing the page to get it to update!) but then when I clicked through to checkout, it automatically changed to £0.
