Pending surgery

if you have a pending surgery ( in my mums case a knee replacement) do all insurance companies say you then are not covered for anything medical? She has just got this response from Staysure? They say no medical cover at all with the pending op? I thought other things would be covered that were not related? Is this a blanket rule that a pending op means no medical cover? I just want to know before I start ringing around which will take forever? Thank you

I think it's one of the conditions all these policies will have.1

In this situation I would look for a local broker where you can work with them face-to-face. I suspect there are insurers out there who would only exclude anything associated with the upcoming knee surgery, but comparison sites won't tend to differentiate.A quick search has brought up Avanti https://www.avantitravelinsurance.co.uk/travel-insurance-awaiting-surgery#procedures

usually if you are on a waiting list for a diagnosed condition you can get cover for the condition whilst you are on holiday but not for cancellation or curtailment if you decided not to go on holiday or came home early if you were offered an appointment. I have had experience of this and both Avanti and Saga will offer cover for a diagnosed condition if on a waiting list. Hope this helps. Understanding terms and conditions and knowing what you need to declare can be a headache when obtaining travel insurance quotes!
