Our gas heating is controlled by a Passivliving system. There's an app on my phone and a remote control (see pic). Is this likely to be problematic is we should want a smart meter installing?

Why should it be?Reed0

I have no idea, which is why I'm asking 😊
The system is connected by LAN cable to my router, and since I have no idea of how smart meters work I thought I would enquire.
Previous experience of smart things suggests that they're not always as smart as one would hope.0 -
A smart meter does not connect to your router, any of your devices, or your home network in any way.anotherbob said:I have no idea, which is why I'm asking 😊

It sits on the wall and runs on its own network, to which you have no access.2 -
Thanks. That's pretty clear. 👍1

The smart meter is just a replacement meter - with a communications link on its local wireless connection on its own network (HAN).
The gas meter generally talks to the comms hub mounted on the smart electric meter - and that comms hub transmits and receives data - to (your meter readings) / from (price updates etc) the outside world - on a second but independent on anything in your home - wireless network (WAN).
And to the in home display - on the HAN.
So you may need 2 new meters not one if you don't already have smart electric.0
