Should I ask for more compensation

Hi. After my young daughter was blue lighted to A&E whilst on holiday abroad (because the restaurant incorrectly labelled a cake as being peanut safe despite knowing it wasnt), the well known package holiday provider initially offered us a £400 voucher after I complained.  They have since upped this to £600 cash. My daughter doesn't think it is enough due to the stress and trauma she went through
Has anyone got any experience on whether going back and saying it's not enough?
I have said I wilo accept their offer but have not signed and returned the acceptance form yet.
Thanks

Do you know if the restaurant is being prosecuted under local Food Hygiene laws ?

Was the restaurant part of the hotel you were staying in?

How much compy are you/your daughter looking for? And where is the hotel?

Have you incurred additional expenses due to the ambulance/medical care?

Has this event caused long term/permanent physical damage to your daughter?

It was a restaurant in the hotel. We did incur expenses but covered by insurance. No permanent physical damage, just emotional- she never wants to go abroad again. No specific amount in mind. It was turkey

I am unclear how it is the fault of the package holiday provider. The hotel is the liable party, not the tour operator. They don't owe you compensation- is a goodwill gesture, and is suggest you take it before their goodwill runs out.

You need to ask a solicitor.

Maybe explore therapy for her and get an estimate of the costs?

How do you know the hotel knowingly labelled the cake as peanut safe when it wasn't ?
Do you have absolute evidence to that effect ?
If they did so then I would think you have a case against them - but you would need to seek expert legal advice and have irrefutable proof to support this.
I suspect your daughter will come around to another holiday abroad in principle once the initial trauma has passed - time is a great healer....although she will be extremely cautious (as will you) where a potential food allergy is recognisable.
The £600 cash offer appears to be a decent result, I'd be inclined to accept.
Like another member, I'm unclear as to how the holiday package provider is culpable in this scenario - surely the hotel is fully responsible ?

I don't know that cash is the answer - I'd be wanting them to foot the bill for counselling to help your daughter get over the trauma.  That obviously might come across as a cash sum but that might focus how you focus on a number - how much does, say, 12 sessions cost?

Importantly though I'm glad your daughter is otherwise ok.  I agree it must have been very scary.

I suspect that suing a hotel in Turkey will cost more than the OP will ever get. The package company owe nothing. They did nothing wrong. And if it's the company I think,  £600 is the maximum they will ever pay as a goodwill gesture; £650 if it's a credit note.

Sometimes there can be issues with translations as some languages have word which includes only certain items we think of as nuts and another which often translates as dried fruits, but in fact includes some nuts as well (and raisins, etc.)  In French for instance, you have to ask whether food contains 'noix' or 'fruits secs' to be sure it is safe.  There is a similar distinction in Italian and possibly also in Turkish which could be behind the confusion the OP experienced.
I was in a cafe in Italy once when a child had an allergic reaction to a meal.  The parents had only asked about 'noci'. Fortunately the reaction was not too serious.
