pension credit and downsizing

I am on pension credit and I'm looking at moving house, as I am disabled and need somewhere on the ground floor and more easily maintained. I own my current house. Does anyone know what might happen if/when I sell and will briefly have more savings while payments are made for adaptations etc?

There are regulations that allow your capital to be disregarded if it is money needed to improve the property so you can live in it.

Ultimately, someone has to decide if the purpose of the money allows it to be disregarded so there is always a risk, especially if the amount of money far exceeds the likely cost the improvements. So it's not possible to guarantee that the capital will be disregarded, but it is certainly possible for it to be disregarded.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Thanks very much for that - I guess the money needed for the move will all go through the solicitors as part of the process, and then I'll need to declare what I'm doing and see what they say. I know I'm really lucky to have the choice of doing this.
