Our next car (next year) will be petrol. Will have to see how things go 5 years after that. Trouble is, I've never driven an automatic - I just don't like the idea of driving a go-kart.

And so will our next car (almost certainly another VW T Cross). And manual gear box.Not that I do handbrake turns, of course!0 -
I used to think we would never go automatic like those lazy Americans but then got a big old 4x4 as it suited our use cae and they basically only came in automatic and I discovered how much of a saving if was in stress and then got our first EV and discovered how easy driving really was and would never want to go back. Tend to get manual petrol hire cars and they are !!!!!! in comparison, literally they feel like last centuries tech.Silvertabby said:Our next car (next year) will be petrol. So glad I don’t need to have a car, just another expense up front and unpredictable bills to look forward too. It’s bad enough with my boiler reaching mid life problems!1

Depreciation of £16,000 over 2000 milesCiprico said:We recently bought a little BMW i3.
6 months old, 2000 miles, and we paid 19k. The previous owner paid 35k...
So horrendous depreciation, but if you're on the right side, no problem.
Couldn't go back to ice, but appreciate it's not for everyone. Being a low milage user, the ability to charge at home, and having solar panels swing it for us....
Thats £8.00 per mile alone
No wonder EVs are piling up in the fields
And don't cite the pictures from China. As they have a valid reason, as they were cheaply built for taxis & were never required. Manufacture got the figures all wrong, as the Chinese Gov subsidised the EV companies.
Shame as they could be shipped around the world for actual use.Life in the slow lane0 -
What about a Toyota Hybrid?
If you service it within the dealer network, they will warranty it up to ten years old/100,000 miles.
There are some good deals about on certain models.
I've seen large amounts off the C-HR and was offered £3500 off the new Lexus LBX last week, but not a penny off other models unfortunately.
Owners seem pretty satisfied and reliability is very strong.
