Software for Laptop Drive Replacement

Options
I'm planning to replace the drive in my laptop with an SSD, and I'd like a recommendation for free software to copy Windows 10 over to the new drive. The new drive will be a little larger, if it makes a difference.

I am aware that Window 10 will be unsupported towards the end of next year, but I want to get another year or so out of it.

I use Rescuezilla, which is open source and free, for that sort of task and it works well - it's very similar to Clonezilla, but I find it slightly easier to use. It comes with GPARTED as one of the included utilities, and that's good for partition resizing/moving.

Most reputable SSDs will come with free software to do the transfer included,

The one I fitted from Crucial came with "Acronis True Image for Crucial".  You'll maybe need a caddy for the SSD to do the transfer unless your laptop has a second bay for the SSD to fit into.

I managed to upgrade my laptop to Win 11 despite the fact my processor "isn't supported".

As stated, many come with software to do it. If not, something like Acronis.

However, personally all you do is take all of the years of garbage with it. Do a clean install (look at ninite.com to be able to mass install many common applications) and then move the data across. A clean install will be a much better way to go.

Macrium was good the last time I used it.  (May not be a free version now but a free trial works).  And will expand to fit bigger drive).
If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.
