    That's an interesting idea Emmia.
I live rurally and even the town 25miles away is depleted post pandemic so you just don't get to see stuff.
That second one particularly would look ok in the living room. Only thing I'd like on it is the router (or not) and with a reflector underneath (being warm supercedes fancy decor in winter) it would be light and easy to take off in summer.
    Thanks :)

I could fancy one in the kitchen too.
You can see the screw holes though (which can be covered with caps - it's not an invisible mount (and even if it was you'd see the mounting points when it's off in the summer...)

Personally I'd just put it up, and leave it all year round.

I can't see why you'd want to remove the shelf in the summer. What will you do with the things that live on the shelf?

We have the metal picture shelf from Ikea above a similar, although smaller, radiator than yours.  It works perfectly well and is deep enough to use as a functional shelf (daughter uses it for hair and make-up stuff) without sticking out too far.  It's around 1-2 cm deeper than the radiator we have - you can bend the outside lip to be more of a right angle to the shelf if you want to gain a few mm.

I wouldn't bother taking it down for summer, it's pretty unobtrusive.  If you have it several inches above the radiator, you will be able to clean behind the radiator without removing it and you'd barely gain any door-opening space.  You already have pictures on the wall so I'd just use it for pictures and make it look pretty.

We also have some of the wooden picture ledges, not above radiators.  My brain prefers metal over radiators, but no real reason.  The wooden ones might be better if the smaller metal one is too small - you could always get the larger wooden one and cut it down if needed.

That's great selection of ideas :)
And it's really got me thinking outside the mental box I was in so thanks everybody. I think I can do this!
Some things I'd never come across and different materials. I'm really grateful for your time and thoughts.
And talking radiators has at last bought the sun out ;)

Nothing to go on shelf, just a reflector and to drive the heat into the room and over me before heading for the ceiling.
And I have windows and doors open wherever possible so cleaning out cobwebs and dust is a must.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier. My gadgets and such seem to be in a union not to respond as normal.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
