Morning all, thanks Chrisca. I didn't post yesterday, busy football day and then we went out in the evening with DS2,DB2, SIL and DNiece to a pub watching a tribute band - DH sometimes works with 2 of them, and they're pretty good. Our planned visit to the food fest on Friday didn't happen as the opening was called off, lots of damage to the tents and marquees etc. due to the storm. Felt so sorry for the traders. Thanks to hard work from the council and volunteers they got it started yesterday, so we'll go either today or tomorrow, but our friends can't so we're meeting them in M/cr midweek instead.Derek, lovely to hear your sunflower story & donations- you did Dawn proud.Gers glad your trip went well.Dp1, really pleased to hear little one is improving.Camelot, congratulations on the birth of a new grandaughter, lovely news. Not sure on the food front, if we go to the Food fest I can pick up something there, if not I can create something with minceIt's nice at the moment but rain due later I think. Hugs to the sad and poorly

Morning all
Lovely bright day here which is nice after rain for most of the day yesterday, we had family round for a bbq and had thought we would have to cook indoors but the sun came out around 5.30 so we did cook and eat outside but it got chilly so we went in for pudding.
I packed most of my extra bits yesterday I just have the last clothes to put in tomorrow, I need to sort my hand luggage today and put what bits I need in there.
DD is working a late shift today so just OH and I here for dinner I think there is some pork left from yesterday and some Greek salad so we could have that with some of the fava dip I made which Is delicious.
Camelot congratulations on the new grand baby how lovely xxx
Derek what a good send off for Dawn and I love the sunflower story, good amount raised too xxx
Have good days all and take care xx8 -
Morning
I'm another one who always reads but will try and post more.
When the rain stopped yesterday OH took big dog out for a long walk and came back with a bag full of cooking apples he'd found on a tree. I've got blackberries in the freezer so a crumble is on the cards.
I got some sad news from my best friend last night, her Dmum had passed away. We met at school 58 years ago and have been friends ever since. We grew up in London but I now live in the Midlands and she's in Somerset.
Our lives were so different. I married and had children, she married but made the decision to be childless and have a career. It certainly gives us plenty to chat about. She is a great "auntie" to my family though.
Realised yesterday it's a bank holiday, these things pass by when you're retired.
I forgot to congratulate Camelot on the birth of her granddaughter. Enjoy lots of baby cuddles when you see her.
Dp1 hope little one continues to improve and is soon home.
Derek thinking of you.
Love to everyone else x

Morning All
I've been for a dip in the loch with Ds2 and his lovely OH, quite cold but very enjoyable. We only stayed in about 10 minutes and came home for hot showers and home made pancakes. They've gone out now and will be back for an early dinner before I take them to the airport for a 7.30 flight home.
We had a lovely day yesterday, met up with DD's family at the beach for a good bracing walk and fish and chips. We went to an amusement arcade after to play some 2p slot games - haven't done that for years and had good fun for £3!
Thought I would be fresh aired enough for a good sleep but that didn't happen sadly. Hope it's better tonight as I'm back at work tomorrow.
Housework has just been done whilst the house is empty although the washing has had to go in the TD, absolutely no chance of anything drying outside today.
Have a great holiday Ruby.
Sounds like you're having a good time Gers.
Hope you have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX8 -
Hello all from Mehefinland
Gosh is that the time!! I have a note, honest!
Yesterday was largely spent doing not a lot. Some correspondence was dealt with, and a Gas meter reading sent off. Got the bill later that afternoon - glad to say in credit and the DD is being reduced.
Sorted out the land registry, and one of the pension people - they both returned the DC. Sadly no more monies coming from this pension not that I was expecting any.
DS rang to see how I was - getting to be a daily thing at the moment. I know he is worried about me.
Today some friend called to see when the funeral was. I was mortified to realise I hadn't told them. I suppose with everything else it was not surprising but I did feel guilty as they had been friends for a long time. Can't turn back time though. I emailed them the celebrants order of service later so they could feel a part of it , so to speak.
Today has just been chores, and a little bit of necessary shopping. I feel churlish but have declined several offers of Sunday lunch/meals etc. I am trying to decline as graciously as I can, and I know that everyone means well, but at the moment I want my own space.
I keep looking at my poor neglected garden and thinking that I should do something about it. The weather hasn't helped. My sweet peas have all but vanished, and the climbing French beans have been battered to pieces. I may be able to salvage enough for tea tonight, if the slugs haven't beaten me to it.
As usual bank holiday weather looks dire so will find something to do in the house tomorrow. Volunteered to deliver some newsletters around the village, so that will stop me brooding for a while.
Hugs and spoons as always
Derek aka Mehefin
