Always seem I’m a step behind, I’m going to fix my energy, do I have to do both my gas and electric or will fixing one, fix the other too.  I decided to fix 2 years and hope for the best

I'm with Octopus. I fixed gas but not electric, so didn't have to do both.

(I then regretted my choice and paid £75 to exit the gas fix.)

You can switch each fuel separately.  You can also have gas and electricity supplied by different companies.

Fixed both now and was so simple, I wish I did it before when Martin first recommended it.  Other thing I noticed was my account on both fuel was in positive, not a lot, over £50 in each.  Do I need to ask them for it or British Gas eventually give it back

Even if that £100 approx credit is based on an accurate very recent bill, it isn’t much as we head towards the colder months. It will soon be used up.
