Morrison’s Home Delivery Substitutions

Just completed an online grocery order. Very disappointed as lots of substitutions and apparently they have no vegetarian pizzas in stock at all.

However my main beef in these days of high grocery costs is how they manage their substitutions.

They are sending substitutions which when you look at them are more expensive than what I originally ordered. For example substituting a 280g bag of scampi @ £7.14 per kilo with a 220g bag @ £13.64 a kilo!!

Not at all impressed, seems a sneaky way of charging me more because they haven’t got the stock! Won’t be using them again!!

It is not surprising though is it, if you see a good deal on a item so will everyone else hence it going out of stock.
As mentioned above if you do not want substitutions just tick the box or decline them.

Just look at the shelves in your local Morrisons...

Always tick no substitutions. Better to get nothing than something the picker thinks will do 🤣

If they substitute an item for something more expensive, then they should be price matching. I know Asda & Tescos do…..

    There’s no “should” about it.
Morrisons terms and conditions say you pay the price of the substitute not the original item, but if the original item was on offer, they do apply the same discount to the alternative.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

They do, but for OP it's still over a 25% increase.

Yep, stopped using Morries delivery and went to Asda where they charge original item price, unless sub costs less in which case they use sub price

I've also found, on the very odd occasion I have had to complain to Asda about an item, I have always had near instant refund without quibble or dispute.

This is why I don't use morrisons for online shopping, their subs policy is awful, all the other ones either charge for the sub and give you the difference as a voucher, or charge the original item price for the substituted product

I started using Morrisons for home deliveries during the Covid saga because they were the only supermarket I could get deliveries from. In the end I settled into a routine and had a yearly delivery saver but as soon as that expired I got out. I have no idea how they handle their stock control but I get a feeling it involves the use of Tarot cards or a tea leaf reader - their out of stock rate was hopeless!
