Need some help with switching

There is something I don't understand about switching if you could help please.
My current deal for dual fuel ends on the 4th October 2024. There seems to be only one supplier with a tariff available for me to switch to that is for 1year ending on 30th September 2025. If I sign up with this new supplier will I be switched over on 1/10/24, which would trigger exit fees of £100, or would I be switched over when my current contract ends on 5/10/24?

You usually get to chose a switch date. You can actually leave up to 49 days before the end of your contract without penalty.2

My 3 year fix ends 1/10/24 - gone with a 2 year fix with EDF and they start the new fix from 1/10/24. Did that by phone.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
