Question from buyers Solicitor.

Can someone help with this, As i can't figure out why i did it.

  1. Please clarify why Susan’s name is confirmed as “Susan Smith” on the grant of probate but on the title register, her name is confirmed as “Susan jane Smith”.

Thanks

This is more important than it appears.

When my in-laws died a relative with the same name as me, but with a middle name whereas I have none, tried to claim my inheritance.

That's vile :hushed: I keep going by my first and last name and skipping my middle name. I didn't understand why my solicitor was fussing about my name and using the full name in all papers.

    • Q1/2025 = 125.3k (interest rate dropped from 5.19% - 4.69%)
    • Q2/2025 = 108.9K (interest rate 4.44%)
    • Q3/2025 = 92.2k (interest rate dropped from 4.44% to 4.19%)

My answer would be "We just skipped the middle name", middle names are usually optional.

  • recently had similar issue with a probate sale, some items had 1st name middle name surname, some 1st name surname.
The answer is that sometimes they used their full name, sometimes just the first and surname. Try and find items with both forms of name and something extra, date of birth, national insurance number etc in case you are asked to prove it is just one person.
Happily my father didn’t like middle names, so no one will have that problem when I shuffle off😁
