voip quality

I'm in the process of changing bb & landline from Virgin to a 5g service and a separate VOIP (not chosen either yet)
I'm testing VOIP systems (those that allow a free trial) on my existing broadband and trying to compare it to my existing landline.
But I have no real metrics for comparison. With broadband I can accurately run speed tests. But with a voice that comes down the WAN through an adapter into the existing DECT handset all I can do is ask someone to ring me up and judge it by ear. Or is there a better way?

How much quality do you need? If the other side can hear you well and vice versa, do metrics really matter?0

Some offer PAYG too so as someone is going to be calling you then you could have a "free trial" with some that dont advertise formal free trials.
It is likely you are already using VOIP systems, particularly with overseas calls, as BT has been moving over for a long time.0 -
Carriers measure voice quality as MOS - Mean Opinion Score, which is a scale of 1-5. I doubt you would be able to see that as a domestic end user0
