Faulty Car Seat

To bring the post to a conclusion, the seat was collected today and I’ve accepted gift vouchers for the value which will be sent on their receipt of the seat. The retailer wouldn’t refund as the manufacturer (who hasn’t even inspected the seat) just repeated it wasn’t a fault. So despite lots of photos, videos and the in store staff confirming the fault, a refund wasn’t offered. I’m certain if I hadn’t gone to the trouble of taking the seat to the store I’d be no further forward. My word alone wasn’t good enough.I think someone asked if it was a known fault, the in store staff told me they have seen it a few times before but it’s not a fault they see every day either.I now have an appointment with a specialist car seat retailer for this weekend so I will replace it with a different brand, leaving me temporarily out of pocket as I can’t use the vouchers towards the replacement. Will never buy a Joie car seat again. And need to think what I can spend several hundred pounds on with the retailers gift voucher!0

I'm pleased you have a result - of sorts. The only thing I would question is that you would expect anything in retail to be accepted based on your word alone. You may well be entirely honest, I'm not trying to suggest otherwise, but there are plenty out there who are far less so.

A good conclusion and a lesson learnt.0
