Installing "Hole in the wall" gas fire

I am looking to have a new gas fire and would like a modern "hole in the wall" type.
I am concerned about the size of the BACK of the fire as I am trying to avoid a lot of work and upheaval to the actual fireplace wall.
My fireplace wall measures 140cm wide and has the normal opening behind the Baxi Bermuda I have now.
The thing is although the wall isn't very wide, I like the wider style of fire.
Are the backs of all the fires standard sizes or do the wider ones have a bigger back and so need the opening made bigger?
