Well, it's all a bit - unclear - here again! OH is recovering very well from his cardiac event, and as his arteries as beautifully clear, no-one is suggesting dietary changes although I might now have a bit of leverage to keep him out of Gr3gs! But DS3's future is still in question, thanks to the university funding crisis, & will remain so until mid-to-end of September; his university are keen to keep him but can only guarantee part-time teaching hours at the moment, which wouldn't be enough to live on over there. He's not keen on the idea of finding another PT job, as that would stymie his own individual research, which is what will lead on to greater things eventually. So he may have to return to the familial fold again... poor lad! Plus DD1 & BF are here for a couple of nights each week anyway.
So I think I'll opt to aim for a budget of£550 - eta: actually please see later post, now aiming for £500!
for September for 3-4-5 adults again, please. Which really is a 5-week month for us, and without pay as OH was on a "leave break" when this happened. (Luckily we do have his pension coming in - bills will be paid, food can be bought, but extras may not be a good move.) Various family members are appearing (& staying) at regular intervals to make sure I'm keeping OH from doing too much, and will obviously require feeding. Mind you that's pretty much situation normal in summer anyway!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8 -
Well this old style board is a discovery for a newbie over from DFW! I like the idea of a grocery challenge for September- starting from (August's payday of 24th) so would love to join. I think I'll try £350.
I have 2 teen boys who eat nonstop but only 50% custody. I ran the cupboards down in August as they were with exh for 3 weeks but we're away this week with friends so stocked up on assorted treats (and wine!). With ice creams and travel lunches on top of the weekend's BIG grocery shop, we're up to £194.50 so that gives me £155.50 for the next 3 and a bit weeks. This is for groceries, lunches and coffees out. Think am probably OK for household bits as some were included in this last shop. Going to be tight but there's not an awful lot of money in the pot altogether this month.
Good luck to me - and the rest of us!July 2024 £12,150 Aug 2025 B/Card £6,300, N/West £1,770, Halifax £1,182, Klarna £568, Sports Trip £335, Very £122 & HMRC GONE!!!! Total £10,2767 -

166/550 done the first of 4 aldi shops this month. Its £46 over unfortunately but got the xmas turkey and some alcahol figured it would be cheaper to buy now rather than december the way prices are increasing. Dont know how we spend so much really. Did see the frozen chickens were 2-3 pounds and had thoughts about doing a roast to last several days, but like the fact I dont do any cooking apart from my meals. I think I will just plod on and skip a shop on last week. Which is what I did last month. This forces us all to ultalise stuff in freezer.21k savings no debt6
