Buying a piece of land

Options
Hi, I am interested in buying a piece of land from a freeholder. Does anyone know the cost to purchase and change the land registry plans etc?

Are you thinking of doing all of this yourself, and not using a solicitor?
  • I'll use a solicitor, just need to know what to expect. I'd need to pay their fees as well.
  • Have you tried Google?  Solicitors usually state their charges for conveyancing on their web sites and some include a guide to out of pocket expenses, eg searches, dealing with unregistered land etc.

Will probably need a more bespoke quote than the typical online ones for bog standard house purchases. Best way of finding out the costs is to ask! Some places won't be interested in doing things which don't fit on their production lines - often relatively cheap transactions can be quite fiddly.

You need a solicitor trained and experienced in land sales as the requirements are different. I bought some grazing land 2 years ago, cost me a total of £600 in fees
