HSBC ARE NOT GIVING ME INFORMATION AFTER 2 YEARS OF ASKING
When I got sick several years ago, citizens advice took over my depts with my ex wife giving them the details, I have been paying an account with moorcroft , but recently saw the balance was over £17000.00 since I never had any account with HSBC for any thing like that amount I contacted moorcroft and explained this to them and asked what account this was for , this was almost 2 years ago and I have since asked several times, moorcroft just say they have passed it on to HSBC who never get back to be until this last time a few weeks ago, when they sent a letter saying,
We're sorry

Is this a case of you are paying into a HSBC account?
As Moorcroft could bank with HSBC.
TBH if you have a £17K. You would be better speaking to one of the debt charities such as

It does sound like you would be better getting assistance to deal with this. As the other poster has mentioned StepChange can help. There's also NationalDebtline, Community Money Advisers (CMA) & Christians Against Poverty (CAP). Sometimes the debt agencies take a bit more notice when you have "professional" help. If it's been over 8 weeks since you logged your complaint with HSBC then you can escalate it to the FOS2 -
Hi again,
Just an update, HSBC contacted me and said that the reason for the high amount was because they had added two different accounts together, So that solved that problem,
But believe it or not they later again contacted me about one of the two accounts and said as I have been paying it for so long they were going to write it off Which of course was fantastic news , They did write to me to confirm this was written off with nil balance owing, But It gets even better at this point , they later contacted me again about an other account with them and they also said they would write this off also, Again they wrote to me to confirm this was written off with nil balance to pay, sadly not everything in life is as simple as you hope, But I will explain what is happening with Restons solicitors if I do not get any joy with my complaint with them, many thanks for all the help and advice given so far , Being as old as I am I can only apologise for being extremely forgettful these days so it takes me a while before I remember to come back and thank people sorry!0 -
When banks hold several debts in your name, and they default, they do occasionally tend to consolidate these together into one account, now they do this to make things easier for them, but it also benefits you.
As this debt did not exist previously, because it was created by consolidation, you never signed any credit agreement for this account, so it is effectively unenforceable in court due to having no legal paperwork.
This is likely why they capitulated so easily.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
