Hotels.com rewards / one-key cash / Vrbo

hi

I am a long standing hotels.com user - use it for booking work travel which I then expense. I've enjoyed their reward scheme whereby for every 10 work nights away i 'earned' 1 free night which i used for family and fun. Great scheme but unfortunately came to an end and been replaced with 'one-key cash' which is nowhere near as generous but hey ho.

Hotels.com have converted my previously earned free nights into £250 one-key cash which is great; i could use this on hotels.com no problem.

They do however make a big song and dance about the one-key cash being common across both hotels.com. Vrbo and expedia.

we were planning a UK cottage stay for next year so thought i would use the one-key cash towards this but I cannot for life of me figure out how to use it on Vrbo. I have signed in using my common account and it recognises me but cant find my one-key cash on my account or see any mention of it in serach filters or when booking. Their FAQ's are useless and I contacted customer services via live -chat..... they sent me round the houses didn;t seem to know what they were talking about with the final statement being that IF (big IF) a property if elligible for one-key cash redemption it will appear in the payment options when checking out.... there is no way to search or filter by elligible properties.

This seems nuts to me and i gave them this feedback but wondering if any knowledgeable folk on here have found any way to use one-key cash

I wouldn't mind only using it on hotels.com but they make such a fuss when launching it about being able to use on multiple platforms but it just seems non-existent on vrbo

Thanks

    How to use OneKeyCash

    You've racked up OneKeyCash and want to use it – here's how that works:
    1. Sign in and start the booking process.
    2. At checkout, select apply OneKeyCash.
    If the option to select OneKeyCash is not available, the property you've chosen is not eligible to use OneKeyCash

    thanks for reply - yes i have seen that;

    1 it is really clunky as you have no idea whether a property will accept one key cash until you actually go to checkout; how stupid that you cant filter by them

    2 i looked numerous properties and haven't yet found one that takes one-key cash; i have zero confidence any do!
