Thanks for posting the picture Savvy_Sue.  Because of my arthritic fingers my'fine' grip is not good.  Yesterday evening I managed to get a friend to do as you have suggested but, unfortunately, it did not help.  My friend thinks the hearing aid is dead.  Again, it was definitely worth trying, thank you.

I'm  less upset now and just accepting that maybe 5th September is not too far away.  I appreciate all the helpful suggestions, very much, and will post back after my 5th September appointment, thank you all  +++.

I think when you are able to give feedback I would do so about the waiting time: for me, waiting until 5th September would be no problem at all because I still have hearing in one ear, and get by very well when I forget to put my aid in. But I have several family members who would really struggle with just one aid, and certainly the ones who are still working would find it a real problem.

UPDATE:  I had a very thorough appointment and, as suspected, the hearing aid was "dead."  It was new in April (both hearing aids were new at the same time) and I was concerned in case it would be sent away for repair and I would be without it for longer.

The technician gave me a completely new hearing aid - exactly the same model.

So far everything is really good.  Thank you for all the interest and helpful suggestions.
    So pleased to hear this.

  • Thanks beanielou.  I was quite anxious about it and it's a relief to have both hearing aids working again.
