Facebook marketplace is getting worse again

I recently got rid of 2 old Dyson vacuum cleaners, I offered both for free in different adverts on FB marketplace.
Clear photos and for the first one I mentioned it kept cutting out and was basically not working so was offering it out for parts or spares as someone might need parts of it to repair their own Dyson.
The second one was working but had real issues as it was making a loud high pitched noise, which wouldn't go away despite new filters and a clean. I also mentioned it wasn't working as well as it used to so again suggested it was being offered as parts or spares only.
Had all the usual requests for delivery - some as far away as a 2 hour round trip (despite my ad saying collection only) . Then I had a person ask for both , failed to turn up the first time, but re arranged for next day. The next day he told me he was going to take them to someone he knew to get them repaired but the repair man wanted £40 to do the 2 and they still might not work. He had the cheek to ask me if I'd give him £40 in cash when he collected . I really wasn't sure how to respond without rude words being involved , but obviously just ended up saying no as the items were free- and he then tried to negotiate me paying £30 and finally settled on £20 ! His argument was the vacuum cleaners might not be repairable so why should he be out of pocket! He really got quite abusive in the end, accusing me of wasting his time.
Blocked him (I think, it's difficult on marketplace) and Dysons were collected by a local dealer that same day- who I know will attempt a repair and a resale- but at least didn't expect me to pay for it. I think that request for money was the cheekiest thing I've had yet, and cannot believe anyone thought they'd get away with it.

Facebook marketplace is getting worse again
Did it ever get better?

Never underestimate the entitlement of Facebook users. I'll hold my nose and sell off stuff on eBay as long as I keep getting the fortnightly offers, but Marketplace is a cesspit too far for me.

However, a few months back I listed a few personal bits from a collection, and they sold immediately, all bar one was posted and every buyer without fail asked me if I had anything similar in my collection. So I carried on listing, posting and selling, even pulling some stuff from ebay which hadn't sold and selling that successfully. Then I got lulled into a false sense of security, and listed some just ordinary items, most were free, and that brings out the worst in people.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
