Hotel car park question

Hi all, so just as a previous case of mine has reached the Claim/Defence stage, I have now received another parking charge notice for a separate incident. This is down to something entirely different so I would just like to know if I treat this the same (ignore, don't respond until it gets to any sort of court proceedings stage) or not.
Very briefly, I tried parking at a nature spot for the family to have a nice walk but the car park was full. I drove a bit up to the road to a hotel car park that I'd parked in previously without any issues. This time, the hotel itself appeared to be closed (no people or lights on) and the car park, which holds around 40 cars, was entirely empty. We assumed the hotel had closed and so didn't even think to look for car park notices, cameras, signs etc. (Yes, I know, stupid, considering my other case).
Anyway, the letter has come through from Park & Control asking for the usual (£100 or £60 if paid straightaway). Looking at the place on google maps, it does have ANPR camera signs up and I can't believe I didn't see them. So can you helpful people please advise if this is the usual shakedown or should I pay this one?
Thank you in advance.

What you should be doing is studying the newbies sticky thread in announcements, and complaining to the Landowner, known as plan A, followed by appealing a private parking charge, known as plan B
Ignoring a private parking company invoice has not been recommended for over 12 years. !
You can and should ignore debt collectors letters, they are powerless
You never ignore a Letter of Claim, or a court claim
Nobody of any kudos on here will tell people to pay a private parking charge notice , not sure why anyone would ask that topic on a money saving forum. !1 -
Especially as Park & Control (UK) Ltd are IPC AoS members - but backed by APCOA3

Complaint put in via twitter and facebook. The hotel customer services responded on both asking me to send an email which I have done. Will post again here when I hear back.2

Got an email back from the hotel customer services saying they would cancel the parking charge notice. That was a week ago though - not had the confirmation yet.2

Confirmed by them now as cancelled. Thank you to everyone in this thread for the advice.3
