Boiler installation

Hi,
I wonder if I can get some help. I've had a boiler installed at my mother's house. My brother, who lives abroad, has been overseeing the installation. There appears to have been miscommunication between my brother and the workmen and despite the boiler being installed satisfactorily, they have left a radiator unattached which neither me nor my brother are happy with. I have asked the company about rectifying before payment is due tomorrow. Where do I stand on this? Can I insist the radiator is replaced before forwarding payment?
Thanks.

It will come down to who the contract is between and what it says.
Who is the customer here? The contractual customer, that is. You, your mother or your brother?
What does the contract say about installation? I doubt that leaving a radiator disconnected is right and proper, but it will depend upon precisely what the contractor was asked to do.0 -
Thanks,
The contract didn't mention anything about leaving radiators unattached. The radiator was taken off in order to look for a leak once the boiler was installed but it appears there was a miscommunication between the engineer and my brother. It certainly was no one's intention that the radiator remained unattached.0 -
I assume your brother, who lives abroad, lives in or very near the house where the installation which he is overseeing is being carried out.
Which country is that?
Is the installation company registered in the UK or in that country?
You say you have asked the company about that radiator, what was their reply?1 -

It might be necessary to pay the installer something to come back to reconnect the radiator. The best outcome possible may be to agree that the blame should be shared and hence your family will pay something if the installer also absorbs some of the cost.
Such errors are quite common, and if you are reasonable with the installer there is a good chance they will be reasonable with you.The comments I post are my personal opinion.
