Guarantor data safety

Having recently agreed to be a rental garantor for my daughter, I have been surprised by how intrusive the checks are and concerned about the data security. They have asked for copies of passport, P60, statements, payslips. Is this supplied info safe? How can I know? It's this or my daughter is homeless. Is it normal?

It’s normal. They are verifying you as much as they would if you were the tenant. The data should be held securely and they must be registered with one of the letting agent bodies. They should also be registered with the ICO to hold data.

You should be able to request a copy of the privacy policy of the company undertaking the checks as well, which will describe how they store and process your data once you provide it to them.
