London Theatre ticket advice please

Hi, I'll be visiting on the kids half term week of 28th October and I plan to see a few shows. I can't see any way of getting a discount, likely due to the shows I want to see being popular:
Dr Strangelove
Wicked
The Other Place
Could anybody help with any discount advice please? I remember joining a queue early morning years ago for super cheap Lion King tickets. Just wondered if any theatres still do this?
Also do the shows tend to sell better/worse when the kids are off? I was tempted to get a ticket on the likes of Twickets if they don't sell well. Thanks!

I also think some of the individual theatres set aside a few tickets for that days performance to be sold at a reduced price if you are ther when the box office opens.1 -
There is an app called TodayTix which is great for discounted theatre tickets. May be useful.Debt free as of 2 October 2009
Mortgage free as of 27 March 20241 -
The two places mentioned above are both excellent, and there's also London Theatre Week at the moment on TodayTix, which has some great bargains. I would also put "(name of show) discount tickets" into Google and see what comes up (though make sure you're buying from a recognised seller, who's a member of STAR). Also, before buying tickets, especially cheaper ones, check out the seating plan and information for the theatre concerned on theatremonkey.com, to see if the seats you've chosen have OK views and are worth the money. Also check out Theatremonkey's Day Seat Finder, for details of bargain on the day and rush tickets (often through TodayTix), which are often far better value. Good luck!0

The photo being used to promote this thread looks like the ENO.
Used to love booking the royal box there for a Monday or Tuesday evening. Only about £70.
They only place a rope across the king's gold chair so you can take turns sitting in it.
Probably not the family recommendation you wanted though0
