I've reported countless facebook marketplace car adverts which clearly use 'stolen' photos from real ads, but seems they don't care.
me too - the same car used in various places in the uk - with different sellers. Autorader seems safer but very few private ads.
Over 60,000 private ads for cars on Autotrader this morning.

Out of 452,549 cars. So 13% are private, which is higher than I was expecting.
Out of 452,549 adverts not cars...

So many dealers show cars lifted from a brochure with "MANUFACTURER" covering the number plates and statements like "IMAGES ARE FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES ONLY. PRICE, MILEAGE, COLOUR, AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE. CONTACT US FOR THE MOST UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION."

That means this advert - some of which have been going for a year according to the AutoTrader URL - could have 100 different 'cars' behind it.

Nah, Facebook are only interested in taking the ad money from sponsored posts

20 mile in my search area brings up 0.2% private sellers

Car Vertical is another service that will assemble all the paper evidence that is available online about your car, but ultimately a proper HPI check is necessary to ensure the car isn't stolen or written off.
Car Vertical is plugged by so many You Tubers I watch that I would be very wary of dealing with them. Their Trustpilot reviews are pretty bad too - https://www.trustpilot.com/review/carvertical.com

I used total car check - for my last cheapie car - worked really well and even had photos of the unreported damage - so you can make a decision based on physical repair rather than vague speculation.......
I looked at Car Vertical and they are £25! no wonder they sponsor so many Youtube channels.....

I used Totalcarcheck too, and they were £3.99. Seemed pretty comprehensive to me for 1/6th the price.

£9.99 for 10 too, if you are checking out several.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

You never mentioned your “20 mile search area” when you stated Autotrader had very few private ads.
