Shower room smelling badly these last few days

Hi,
During this week my shower room at the second floor has smelled badly (of sewer) every other day, last time was last night.
All of a sudden. It had never smelled before.
The window is always open, all year.
The siphons are full, I can see them.

Now I've let more water flow and I've shed some thick bleach for several hours, but I'm wondering where I have to look for to resolve this problem for the long term.

Thanks

It sounds like the drain is partly blocked somewhere, bleach won't clear a blockage.

Do you live in a hard water area? We had this exact problem with our shower, and used to put drain cleaner down - but that only temporarily fixed the problem. It turned out our drain was scaled up, which became apparent when it blocked up, and we got a company out to unblock it, who put a camera up and diagnosed the problem. We had them descale it which caused pieces of scale the size of a forearm came out... Since then no problem.

Judging from the timescale that I find everywhere yes, It feels like a hard water area, but why only this shower room and not the other two bathroom and loo at the lower floors?

The loos have water in them that will hold back the smell. We have two adjacent bathrooms, no smell in the bathroom with a bath, only a gas type smell coming out of the shower drain - I have no idea why though.
  • Have you actually removed and cleaned the little "cups" that form the "syphon"?

Start from the top down, get a spray cleaner, preferably one with diluted bleach, and start cleaning ceiling and walls as well as shower compartment and fittings. There could be a bloom of microbial growth which may be unseen to human eye.
When finished set shower as hot as can go and at most powerful spray and steam clean the shower compartment, may need done more than once.

Does the water level in the sink and shower traps reduce when you flush the toilet?

Also if it's carpeted no damp areas? Behind the loo?

The water level is always constant is all sinks and toilets. There are tiles in all bathroom. No leaks and no damp.

Is there a durgo or air admittance valve maybe under the sink? Toilet pan connector fully home and no sign of leaks there?

I had to search for what they are.
    There's no air admittance valve.
The Pam connect looks perfect. No leaks.
Also, the toilet is perfectly and stably sat, no wobbling. The deal is whole too.
