Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers.
Looks like a fairly decent day - well, it's not raining! Bedding is in the WM, should dry well today as there's a bit of a breeze.
My cold has taken a turn for the worse, it's COVID. Not sure if I can go to work, will message the HT later although I feel pretty rough at the moment and hardly slept.
Sorry to hear the little one is back in hospital dp1, hugs to you all.
My brain is mush and I can't remember who's up to what so I'll wish you all a peaceful Sunday. Take care. XX

Morning all! It's sunny and I've been up since silly o clock. For a Sunday anyway. I've been very anti social this weekend, Ive stayed in when it's quiet and did a lot of napping yesterday in between cleaning the kitchen and making bread and butter pickles [thanks Ruby
I had a lidl veg box with two cucumbers in it so they had to be used up and a couple from the greenhouse] Izzy, I used to have sports massage on my feet, it was the only thing that helped the plantar fasciitis [I'd had all the treatment available for that including an operation, it was a last resort and it really helped] You could try reflexology, that's quite nice too. I used ot massage my mothers feet for her and take the dead skin off, cut her nails and stuff..can you persuade one of yours to do that?
I have a list as long as your arm of stuff to do next week, so I'd better make a start on some of that today
.dp1, sorry to hear she's back in poor thing, hope it's a short visit for her. mehefin, only one handbag here and you could hardly call it a handbag really, it's a canvas satchel type thing from the army and navy stores, plenty of room, sadly not enough pockets though. I did get a posher leather one last week, now that has got plenty of pockets. Good to hear you're slowly sorting stuff that works for you both. I swear the whole purpose of the way funerals are done is to keep you busy so you don't have time to think. Our funeral director when we did my parents made us laugh a bit too, he put the fun in funeral...[ too soon?] snoozer, hope your thing went ok with less ouch this time. Nanny, parents are stubborn creatures and end up doing exactly as they wish anyway, whether you like it or not. Just remember that he is choosing for himself, and don't frazzle yourself trying to change him to do what you want him to. Something I wish I'd remembered with my parentsAnyway, take care all, hugs n stuff, shout out to the MIA...They're on my mind today,, it would have been my mothers birthday...camelot, oh dear, hope it's a quick bout for you too...Gers, thanks for starting, just pipped me , good job I checked for new threads before posting, glad it's brighter for you, have a nice cup of coffee!

Morning all
The sun was meant to be shining today so I did a large load of washing last night, ready to hang out this morning, and it's not too great! I'll wait a while and see if it brightens up.
Had a lovely time yesterday at DD's family bbq but DH is still a bit below par. He's got some tablets for anaemia from the GP but they'll take a while to kick in. Meanwhile, we returned with leftover chocolate pudding, strawberries and cream
I'm also a one handbag person; couldn't cope with having to change contents all the time. Or maybe others just duplicate things?
Anyway hope things brighten up for us all.

Hi everyone,
Thanks taff. Unfortunately it could have been better, the sedation didn't really do anything and the clip that was put on to stop the bleeding last time was still there. The Dr made a hash of getting it off and taking some more tissue (I was watching). I thought it looked like the polyp might have regrown a bit and the Dr said it had and to have another colonoscopy in three months, sigh. To put the tin lid on it the nurse taking me out said to make sure I had a weekday appointment next time making me think he didn't rate the Dr. At least I will be checked again soon and not left wondering. Sorry if it's tmi, I don't want to worry the family with my concerns.
Dp1, I hope you have better news today.

I've had an already lazy day and can't see that changing too much. Yesterday I whizzed around over much and then disappointed myself greatly by over indulging in food and (even worse) wine. I had decided in late June to not have any wine until Germany but that decision got blasted into oblivion yesterday. Before you think I got blind drunk I had only one glass of wine but that was enough. And I was so close too. Now, my big dilemma is about the remaining wine. Do I waste it 😱 by pouring it down the drain 😰 or further disappoint myself by finishing it?Duvet and body warmer are both at the dry cleaners for washing and tumble drying with tennis balls. I managed to avoid gala processions and 'fun' activities in the next village. I did some shopping in Oban which was heaving with people, I'd forgotten about the big shinty final taking place. Wherever I went there were huge gatherings of folk.Today I may venture out (if the blooming rain holds off) to explore some of the 40 or so art studios which are holding a series of co-ordinated open days.Hugs to poorlies, big and small. More hugs to the sad and grieving with some left over for those who are alright.9

Morning all, thanks for the start Gers. I forgot to post yesterday, mainly thanks to an early start to pick up DS2/DGS to get to their football, about half an hours drive Northwards. We got back about 11 and just had a chill day, reading etc. I downloaded the latest Peter James for DH, he said I'd like it too as it's all about dogs!dp1, really sorry to hear L.O is back in hospital, hope they can sort her out quickly, hugs to all.Derek/Mehefin, I do admit to having a few handbags
One is a biggish one I take to football matches/cinema/outings with the DGC so I can fit drinks, sweets etc, one for 'best', & a small cross body one I keep my keys etc. in when I'm out walking or on the bus, plus a couple of others that I don't really use but reluctant to get rid off as they were quite expensive! Got to admit the thought of the digital stuff sorting is a bit daunting as well as the paper stuff, but you sound like you're getting on with it ok.
Camelot sorry to hear you've got Covid- get well soon.Nan - hugs it's really hard to see your parents decline in health.Got some beef olives from the butchers pack for later, need to see what to have with them as we'll be back late from our 1st home match of the season, might chop some potatoes into wedges ready. It seems to be brightening up a bit, time for a coffee. Take care all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)9 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
Waves to Derek and the many Sue’s! I am Carolyne (pronounced Caro-line) courtesy of my Dad who thought it looked nice with a Y. Have been called Carolyn throughout my school/work life and there’s only so many times you can correct someone without looking RC.
I’ve been for a 4k run - slightly shorter as not really feeling it this morning. We are seeing DS1/DIL en route to DSis/BIL later, so will pick up some cakes to take with us. Will also do a little ironing for the working week ahead.Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 17/25 Currently reading The Ghost Fields by Elly Griffiths11 -
PS - I use a very small cross over handbag as I can't abide searching through a big deep one with many pockets. Plus, when with others (particularly the male of the species) frequent requests to 'can you put this in your bag' bring out the worst of me. 😀 Given that I do have one other bag which is bigger. It's used for travelling so is already out and ready for the weekend. It'll hold my mini iPad, clear bag of toiletries, keys, phone and other necessaries as I'm only taking cabin luggage.Digital sorting is interesting. I have set up my oldest nephew (he's the UK one) as my Apple legacy holder so he can access my phone and two iPads once I'm finally gone. He'll either want or not want photos, videos and my contacts but will have the choice.8

Morning all from a slightly sunny Mehefinland
Rubbish sleep last night. Awoken at 2am by an alert from our in barn camera! I should explain. We have 2 cameras in our barn to keep an eye on the horses overnight. As its a reasonable distance from the house, they work over the 4G system and we pay a monthly charge. The initial provider which came with the camera must be European or US based as the alert was to tell me that we need to put some more money on the account. This came direct from the camera, and I had already had emails to that effect. Was not over pleased with the timing> Sorted now.
'Handbag' Lady Bracknel. Dawn was a b8gger for not throwing anything out after it was life expired. My quest took me through 44 yrs worth of worn out, decrepit bags which should have shuffled off to the tip years ago. She probably had an idea what was in them ( well sort of). Now if it had been anything to do with the animals she knew EXACTLY what was where, what size etc. I just did as I was told lol. So it may be fun as we go into the colder months , sorting out which rug fits who etc. What do you do with 8 saddles? I am unable to ride the boy after my 'bump', I could get on, but can't get off. Never thought I would say I can't get my legover in a forum like this!! He isn't what is known as a novice ride either so I need to find somebody competent that I feel I can trust. Hele, my lovely friend comes to mind, but I want to see her riding another beastie before I entrust this chap to her., and for her safety too.
Well after starting an avalanche of 'Sues' yesterday I though t I would tell you about when I started Grammar School in our local to us, very traditional, classics and rugby orientated edifice. Head teacher was an ex Wales international player, and if you had aptitude you did well ( I didn't!!) All known by surname - I only got called Derek when I got to 6th form.
The entry class was split in 2 alphabetically A-l , M-Z or similar. I was in the last lot. so it goes like this
Teacher filling in new register goes through the alphabet until he gets to L. Anyone starting L. 2 hands up. Lewis Sir says both boys. Christian name? Peter Sir says both. Second name initial? T Sir says both. By this time the sniggers had turned to outright laughter of 11yr old boys. Exasperated Teacher , well what are they. Trevor , Theodore .
So I had 2 PT Lewis's in class, but being a traditional place one was Lewis Tertius and I must admit I forget the other. They became firm friends. We also had Christopher Wren! Poor boy took some stick for that.
Its a limbo day today, just going to take things slowly and hopefully gat a snoozette at some point.
Hugs and sppons as always, and especially to DP's little one.
Mehefin aka Derek
