Boiler Service

We purchased a Veissmann-50 boiler in 2021 with a 10 year warranty and every year we get it serviced by same company that installed it.

This year engineer notice the temperature was not modulating down correctly and was cutting out increasing high to low. He said there was a blockage in the system and or system failure.  He told be that I need call manufacturer.

Anyway called manufacturer and they were initially reluctant to come as they said the engineer should be fixing issue.
The Veissmann engineer came onsite and asked if there was and issue , I said no but the engineer servicing boiler noticed and issue hence the callout.

V.Engineer checked out boiler and said there was debris in the system plate, cleaned this out and replaced plate.  As the system plate normally need cleaning with acid.  He also turned round and said the boil has never been serviced.  I said how can you tell.  He said the red seals have never be opened since boiler was purchased.  Boiler had never been serviced according to manufacturer instructions. He told me to get it serviced before next service or the warranty on boiler will be void.  Paid £94 for new system plate.

Called the boiler company and told them the same that the boiler had never been seviced correctly according to manufacturer instructions since boiler was installed in 2021 and never been cleaned by any if their engineers.   I asked for a refund but they are not looking to provide any even after raising a complaint.  They have spoken to Veissmann and have and email stating the same.

Each year their engineers have come round and not cleaned the boiler or checked for debris.

Am I in my rights to ask for a refund?

@Screwdriva, you're a big fan of Viessmann gas boilers and you know a lot about the one you bought; any thoughts on this?

Are the company that installed the Veismann an accredited installer and servicer of Viewmann products?

If not then it's likely it's a basic service not a specific boiler service.

That all said if they have not been servicing the boiler to the manufacturer standards you might be able to request a percentage back of your servicing costs so far and that might be the £94 it cost you to get it fixed

Some links for you to check k

They are Gas Safe accredited not sure how to find if they are accredited installer I am not able to locate from their address in Cardiff, CF10 3AG, I assume they must be if they are selling the products.  I have been paying £90+vat for boiler service each year to maintain warranty.

The cost for a "basic" service hovers around £90. However, Viessmann accredited installers are aware that a Viessmann hardware kit is required at preset intervals from date of installation. This costs £125 or thereabouts.

Without this correct serving regimen, the Viessmann warranty would be void. It is essential to use Viessmann accredited installers with their hardware.

    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

@Screwdriva,  Is that £125 instead of around £90 or £125 in addition to the around £90?

£55.20 (inc VAT) - Probably cheaper if you go to someone like City Plumbing.

I'd be interested to know how often this kit is required (got a new 050W myself).

Every 2-3 years I believe. £125 + VAT all inclusive is what I was just quoted for the V200

Depending on the exact model of the 200, a service kit is between £102 and £138 from Viessmann (ouch). Kinda expensive just for a couple of gaskets, seals, and an igniter.

An annual service should include a boiler clean to remove debris.  £90 + vat for just a gas safety check seems alot.  I believe some companies are just cutting corners.  I thought it was by law a boiler service should include a boiler clean?   If engineer is not following manufacturer instructions to clean boiler then the warranty will be voided.   I have been instructed to get boiler serviced before next next year as the seals are still intact and not removed since boiler was purchased.

I want to a get refund for money.  How can I get my money back for last 3 years?
