Financial association

Good evening, 

In May it smears a financial association was created between me and another person.

 This follows on from a soft search on a mortgage check to see if we could get one.

I was under the impression this wouldn’t impact our credit files.

 Please can someone advise as we have no joint accounts nor have we’re had any hard search applications.

Soft checks are recorded but leave no hard visible footprint which impacts your credit score.

 If you do get a mortgage or joint account you will be linked which can be seen by lenders

Thanks to both responses.
We have no accounts together but Equifax is now showing a financial association ever since a soft search.
